Working with Breed Associations

Whether you have registered cattle as a part-time hobby or it’s your full-time job, you need quality, up-to-date records to exchange with your breed association. With interfaces with over 40 breed associations, the CattleMax Registered Cattle Edition has you covered with easy to use exchanging processes.

Completing registration applications to save time in submitting records

With most breed associations, CattleMax automatically completes the breed association’s registration application based on your records (such as calf name, sire, dam, date of birth, etc). Many associations will also accept these forms by email, thereby saving you even more time. In addition, some of the associations have an electronic registration method that CattleMax can assist you with, which saves you money for the associations that have an additional charge for paper registration submissions.

Downloading your herd inventory to ensure success

Some of the breed associations offer an initial herd file download. This means that an electronic file of your registered cattle records, including weights, EPDs and 3-generation pedigrees, can be downloaded right into a new CattleMax file for you. Imagine all of your cattle information already being in a CattleMax file for you to work with!

Adding new calves is a snap – selecting the sire and dam will automatically complete the calf’s pedigree based on existing pedigree records.

Receiving updated EPDs and records guarantees your records are up-to-date

A few of the breed associations are also able to send updated EPDs and weights throughout the year (such as when the sire summaries are updated). This is a great way to be sure you are always working with the most current records that the association has for your cattle, and ensure your buyers have the most current performance information. This helps you determine which cattle best fit their needs and goals, thus strengthening your opportunities.
