Frequently Asked Questions
What is an active animal? How are cows and calves counted?
An active animal is any active animal in your operation, including bulls, cows, and calves. Cows and calves are counted separately. An animal that dies or is sold no longer counts toward the active animal limit. AI bulls, donor cows, and pedigree (reference) animals also do not count toward the active animal limit.
What if I have both registered and commercial cattle?
The Registered plans have all of the features of the commercial plans in addition to other features, including 3-generation pedigrees and interfaces with breed associations. Registered and commercial cattle can be tracked in the same account – which plan you choose depends on how important the registered-specific features are to your record keeping. Commercial cattle in a registered plan can have a specific designation, such as by category or group.
